I
Wish We Could Wish You A Wombling Woody Merry Bloody...Oh
Forget it... Just Remember You're A Womble Everyday

More
Merry Wombling-Woody photos here!
Roy has recorded a Christmas
single with Mike Batt and the
Wombles. It's a new recording
combining their two massive Christmas Hits, "I
Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" and "Wombling
Merry Christmas", with a new string arrangement
by Roy and Mike, played by a twenty six piece string section
of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Go on, guess what it's called...give up?..."I
Wish It Could Be A Wombling Merry Christmas Everyday".
The record is co-produced by Roy and
Mike Batt and has a release date of 11th
December on Mike Batt's
own label, Dramatico Records. There will also be a new Wombles
album "The Womble Collection"
released... round about now-ish! Check out Mike Batt's web
site at www.mikebatt.com
from which we nicked the above photo and below quote. (Thank
you Mr. Batt!).
Mike Batt told us:
"The last two
or three weeks have been full of frenetic activity - I've
been making two videos. One is for "Wombles
On Parade" (the featured promotional track off
the new album) - and the other is for the new single by The
Wombles with Roy Wood
- entitled "I Wish It Could Be
A Wombling Merry Christmas Everyday" - the very
silly record I've made with Roy, and for which we are planning
a Christmas campaign. The Christmas video is a right laugh.
We did it in a blue-screen situation, - that is to say that
the background is all blue, so that later we will key in (replace)
the backgrounds with shots of the Wombles Burrow - from the
miniature TV sets - all done up as a Christmas party. Roy
was great. I got into my Orinoco outfit and fun was had".
Said Roy "I'd
have liked to have got into Uncle Bulgaria's outfit, but that's
another story...!"
Roy professed to having a great time working with Mike and
The Wombles and especially enjoyed recording the video, which
is full of fun, surprises and erm... Wombles!
EMI
ELO ECD...etc!
EMI are currently working on a major project celebrating
30 years since the release of ELO's
eponymous first album on their much respected Harvest label.
Completing the set of albums up for some very special treatment
are The Move's 'Message
From The Country', Roy's legendary solo offering,
'Boulders' and ELO
2. EMI are promising a treasure chest of delights
as all the albums will be presented as Enhanced CD's which
will include all sorts of interactive and visual surprises
on the discs, along with extensive booklets and posh packaging!
Blackberry
Way Unlocked
Roy along with Carl Wayne were
filmed for BBC TV's forthcoming 'Unlocked'
series, in which "Blackberry
Way" was discussed in depth. Concentrating on
singers and songwriters, 'Unlocked'
will consist of a new interview, illustrated by stills,
news archive reports and a live performance of "Blackberry
Way" taken from the BBC's "Colour
Me Pop" programme. Scheduled for Autumn / Winter
of 2000. Watch this space...
Routes
Of Rock
Roy is currently being featured in the second series of
Carlton TV's acclaimed series, Routes
Of Rock. He recorded a lengthy interview back in
March from which the edited highlights appear scattered
throughout the series. The programme in which he was most
heavily featured, 'I Write The Songs' focused on the great
contemporary songwriters. The documentary, produced by Ken
Howard (one half of the team who 'wrote the songs' for The
Tremeloes) is being broadcast in the London region at the
moment at 10.30pm on Mondays and should go nationwide soon.
Roy
and The SAS
Roy's occasional band, The SAS have

Guinness
Book Of Hit Singles
Roy was asked to pick his all time favourite single for
inclusion in the latest edition of The Guinness Book Of
Hit Singles. The Guinness Book awarded Roy "70's Artist
of the Decade" a couple of years back, so they obviously
think well of him. However, Roy has just screwed up their
entire system by picking not one but two favourite singles...
There's always one isn't there?
