Electric
Light Orchestra
Remastered & Enhanced
30th Anniversary Edition
FIRST
LIGHT: THE DAWN OF "A NEW SOUND, A NEW CONCEPT." -
THE ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA
2001 celebrates the 30th Anniversary of ELO's
groundbreaking and experimental debut album release. EMI's definitive
remastered multimedia collection of ELO's Harvest recordings has been
assembled from the original analogue masters, previously unreleased session,
live and BBC tapes - all remastered at Abbey Road Studios.
"This is a pretty wacky album, so innocent yet so
bold. It goes to some really strange places." -
Jeff Lynne, 2001
"This was certainly the birth of
E.L.O... I would have to say that together, Jeff and myself made my original
dream into a reality. If I am to be honest, I sincerely love him for it."
-
Roy Wood, 2001
'Electric Light Orchestra' is the debut release
in EMI's 'First Light' series of remastered
albums by The Move, Roy Wood and ELO. The
series title acknowledges the importance each played in the development
of 'Electric Light Orchestra' and the strong
link between the artists' original recordings.
Bev Bevan, Jeff Lynne and
Roy Wood were the nucleus of both The Move
and the fledgling ELO. Bevan, Lynne, and Wood were recording as
The Move and ELO simultaneously
between July 1970 and June 1971, often laying down tracks for 'Message
From The Country' and 'Electric Light Orchestra'
on the same tape reel. Add to the mix Wood recording and refining his
acclaimed solo album 'Boulders' at various
locations and times from September 1968 through to December 1971 and his
previously unaccredited playing on ELO's second album, 'ELO2',
then a common thread between all four EMI albums can be clearly seen -
and heard.
